The clash between Infertility and Catholicism
Infertility and Catholicism are always at odd and they do not complement each other. The pope as the head of the Catholic Church is the one that dispenses the entire verdict for the church. In 1990, as the head of the church, the pope passes down his verdict that infertility treatments do not go hand in hand with Catholic beliefs. The Catholic beliefs is that all children belong to God and couples do not have the right to any form of treatment to conceive a child as it run aground of the fundamental belief of Catholic. To them, infertility and Catholicism cannot coexist as both beliefs are conflicting. The Church view on Infertility and Catholicism The Catholic Church decreed that infertility and Catholicism are total opposite as the Catholics hold the belief that getting pregnant should result from a partnership of legal wife and husband. It doesn't matter whether it is natural conception or unnatural methods. Unmarried couples are not allowed to even consider pregnancy as it is against God's will. The use of scientific method to get pregnant is at odds with the catholic belief and should not be encouraged or even consider. The conflict of infertility and Catholicism is because the Church hold the belief that getting conceive is the start of life and only married husband and wife have the right to engage in sex. Other form of treatment that runs against it is considered taboo. The reason why infertility and Catholicism do not see eye to eye is that no additional embryos are allowed to be produced and throw away by the church. For infertility treatment, they make use of feasible and mature embryos and the other are thrown away. For infertility and Catholicism to coexist then no additional sperm and embryos of donors are formed and Catholics will find infertility treatment alright. The only allowable infertility treatment is the union of wife and husband in matrimony and it is like the use of infertility drugs. The use of surrogate mother for infertility is not allowed by Catholics and they must abide by it for infertility and Catholicism to exist together. How to ensure Infertility and Catholicism coexist? If you are a Catholics and you have to make a decision between infertility and Catholicism, the choices are far and few in between unless you chose to run afoul of the Church. On the other hand, you can choose adoption following Catholic rules. If you are infertile, then the conflict of infertility and Catholicism will prevent you from doing as you wish.
